PAAU STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT HOSTS THRILLING SUG CUP 2026 FINALS
16th May, 2026

The Students Union Government (SUG) of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, successfully hosted the highly anticipated finals of the SUG Cup 2026 today, the 16th day of May, 2026. The event, which brought together students, supporters, and esteemed guests, saw the Social Sciences Education team emerge victorious against Human Kinetics in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

The match, played at the university's sports complex, ended 2-2 at full time, with Social Sciences Education securing a 3-2 win in the penalty kicks. The atmosphere was electric as students and supporters from both faculties cheered on their teams, creating an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.

The occasion was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Usman Ogbo, who commended the SUG for organizing a successful tournament. Other dignitaries present included the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Sani Abdullahi Rufai; Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Ige Simeon; Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Adegoke S. A; and several other distinguished lecturers and staff.

The Chief Host and SUG President, Comrade Rilwan Abubakar Obaje, expressed his delight with the turnout and success of the event. "The SUG Cup is a platform for students to showcase their talents and sportsmanship. We're thrilled with the outcome and look forward to more exciting events", He added.

The Director of Sports, Comrade Ayatu, also praised the teams for their sportsmanship and dedication. Social Sciences Education's victory marks a proud moment for the faculty of Education and the Department of Social Sciences Education. Medals and Cash Prizes were presented for the Winner, Second Place and Third Place.

Breakingnews: THE CHAIRMAN OF HK FOUNDATION DISBURSES OVER 7M naira scholarship for Kogi student

Hussein Kashim, has
released another tranche of
payment in the over N7 million
scholarship scheme for 50 stu-
dents of Kogi State College of
Education, Ankpa.
The fund paid yesterday, was
transferred to the institution’s
consultancy account, KSCOE
Ankpa Consultancy Services
Limited, as part of ongoing
obligations under the pro-
gramme.
The scholarship, introduced
at the students’ admission into
the Nigeria Certifi cate in Ed-
ucation (NCE) programme,

designed to run from NCE
I to graduation, covering tui-
tion and accommodation for
benefi ciaries drawn largely
from low-income backgrounds
across the state.
Bursary records indicate that
each benefi ciary attracts an
annual cost of N51,500 for fees
and accommodation, bringing
the total commitment for the
three-year programme to over
N7 million.
In a letter dated November 3,
last year, the Provost, Dr. Fash-
agba Paul Femi, commended
the initiative, describing it as
a major intervention that has eased the fi nancial burden on
the students and enabled them
to focus on their studies.
He said the scheme would not
only support academic pur-
suits but also motivate benefi - ciaries to excel and contribute
meaningfully to society.
The benefi ciaries cut across
departments: Business Educa-
tion, Agricultural Education,
Home Economics, Political Sci-
ence, Economics, Biology, Tech-
nical Education, Arabic and
Social Studies, and are drawn
from local government areas
such as Ankpa, Dekina, Oma-
la, Ofu, Idah, Igalamela-Odolu,
Olamaboro, Bassa and Ibaji
