Not a solar eclipse, as geographically I wasn’t as lucky to witness this one. But here are some of my favorite moments of the sky’s daily miracles from my hometown. Only the swaggiest way to survive a heatwave is to turn your neighborhood into your own little beach.

Still exploring Dhiban’s beautiful landscapes, we were driving around when we started hearing the sound of flowing water. We stopped to see where it was coming from and found these guys sliding their way into a pond and a series of little waterfalls, a sh**ha set up right by the water’s edge and not a care in the world. 😂

And remember the last photo in this album? It was taken at this same location a few years ago. Gotta love Levantine swag 🤍 🏜️🌺🌊

لساتني هون - آخذكم ع واحد من الأماكن اللي عرفتها وحبيتها وكل الأشياء الحلوة اللي التقت فيي هناك.

واحد من الأماكن اللي بحب اروح عليها لما بكون بحتاج ابعد عن الكوكب هي ذيبان بمادبا. طبيعتها كتير حلوة بالنسبة الي، وبحس بحرية تامة بين جبالها اللي ما بتخلص. يمكن هاد الاشئ اللي الارض بتحمله واحنا ما منعرف عنه، ذيبان كانت وحدة من اهم مدن مملكة مؤاب.

الجبال اللي عم بتشوفوهم هم جبال الكرك بس هيك بكونوا مبينين من ذيبان. بحب كيف ببعض الصور شكلهم زي الرخام وبالتانيين مبين زي امنه في ذهب عالسطح من انعكاس الشمس باخر النهار.

وطبعا القمر والشمس، رفقائي الدائمين كمان لقوا حالهم بالصور. والف تحية للأستاذ حمار 🫏

Still here - Taking you down one of the roads I’ve come to know and love, and all the beautiful things that met me there.

I find it necessary to disappear every now and then, and this is one of the places I return to. Dhiban’s landscapes are incredible and filled with a kind of freedom that’s hard to put into words. Perhaps it’s something the land has always carried. Long before us, this was the heart of ancient Dibon, one of the most important cities of the Moabite Kingdom.

The mountains in these photographs are the mountains of Al Karak, seen from Dhiban in Madaba. I love how they look like marble and in a different light with the sunset’s reflection it looks like there’s gold on the surface.

The sun and the moon, faithful companions as always, found their way into these frames too. Please give a shoutout to Mr. Donkey too!

No matter how much we love watching the game, we sometimes underestimate its power; the unity it brings, the excitement of being part of something bigger than yourself, the dedication of the coaches who build communities, and the feeling that, despite all our differences, you and a million other people want the exact same thing in that single moment.

It’s the feeling of loyalty, of witnessing something you’ve waited so long to see happen. Knowing you might end up disappointed, but also knowing that, leading up to that disappointment, there were beautiful, euphoric celebrations across the country.

Shots from Amman, Madaba, Al Karak, and Zarqa, and the our olive trees, we celebrate, dream, and hope for more of what brings us together. Good luck to our Jordanian team tomorrow ♥️

(P.S. About that epic sh**ha shot - the kid was delivering the sh**ha to his older sister, who came to watch his practice 😂.)

قدما بنحب نحضر كرة القدم، مرّات بنستهين بقوة هاللعبة. قديش بتجمع الناس، وبتخليك تحس إنك جزء من إشي أكبر منك. شعور إنك، رغم كل الاختلافات، إنت ومليون شخص غيرك حاليا بدكم نفس الإشي بهاي اللحظة. رح تنبسطوا وتزعلوا مع بعض بالزبط ع نفس الاشي.

هو شعور انتماء، وإنه تعيش إشي من زمان بتحلم يصير. أنا عارفة إنه ممكن النهاية ما تكون سعيدة، بس قبل هيك كان في كل هالفرحة والحماس والاحتفالات اللي الكل حاسس فيها بالبلد.

الصور من عمّان ومادبا والكرك والزرقا، وتحت شجرات الزيتون احتفلنا، حلمنا، ومنأمل بالمزيد من الأشياء لبلدنا، وبنفس الوقت بنفتخر بالأشياء اللي بتميزنا عن بعض.

(ملاحظة: بالنسبة للّقطة الأسطورية تبعت الأرجيلة، الولد كان بودّي الأرجيلة لأخته الكبيرة اللي إجت تحضر تمرينه 😂). متحمسين نشوف فريقنا بلعب بأول مباراة اله بكرة ♥️ #الاردن #عمّان

Decades of desert wind, stone, and sun etched into a face. What they mean when they say people look like the land they come from. Portraits I took in Petra of a member of the Bedul tribe, the Bedouin community that has called Petra home for generations, residing among the landscapes and history of this ancient city, built by its original architects ’The Nabateans’. 🗿 هيك بكون قصدهم لما حكوا، الناس بتشبه الأرض اللي بتعيش فيها. سنوات من هوا الصحرا، الحجار، والشمس محفورين بوجه. صور أخذتهم لشخص من البدول، البدو اللي حاليا بعتبرا البترا بيتهم، وساكنين بين تاريخها وحجرها. المدينة اللي بنوها المعماريين العظيمين الانباط. #الأردن
