People who used to say “you fight like a girl” obviously didn’t know Katie Taylor. She has turned that upside down and into a compliment. Fabulous night to be in Dublin even if we weren’t at Croke Park but we were close enough to hear the fireworks and music. A great night of celebration for one more added to the over 65 club. Who knew being a pensioner could be such fun??

Impossible to capture the whole evening of EarthChild produced by ArtsEkta to celebrate 20 years of the Belfast Mela but worth a try. I didn’t know where to look as so much was happening. The only downside was having to run off, just as the fireworks started, to catch the last bus home by 10 o’clock. Sunday service on big event nights is just a joke!

You can’t beat a bus pass free day out. This day was on the train to Whitehead starting off with an iced coffee made with Maud’s mint chocolate ice cream. Lovely chatty walk up round the lighthouse and back for a delicious lunch in the sun at King’s Road Coffee shop.

The Ulster Museum Late night event is such a great idea. The atmosphere is so different when the place is absolutely buzzing with people and it feels so decadent to be wandering around with a drink in your hand! There are all types of musicians and dancers entertaining people in lots of the galleries and it’s a treat to walk around and find a surprise around every bend.

A beautiful weekend in the Mournes with friends old and new. Saturday and first a massive breakfast in French’s Cafe in Clough (fabulous as always) and then a bracing walk from Murlough beach to Newcastle for a treat in Mauds and back after a few more shenanigans to our cars at the Twelve Arches. They headed home and I hung around until dinner time in McHugh’s. Then up to find a car camping spot to be ready for another hike on Sunday. Beautifully quiet spot with not another soul in sight..

What an amazing joyful week in Bangor and then Belfast at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. As Van the Man sang “Wouldn't it be great if it was like this all the time? ...
Unlikely for me, I wasn’t even that interested in taking photos as I wanted to soak up the whole atmosphere and was too busy clapping, swaying, trying to dance in the set dances but thankfully not tempted to join in the singing. Streets full of happy friendly people only interested in having a good day. Best street party yet! And we get to do it all again next year.
