Toy houses of Burano island
My first time on Burano was 10 year ago with my friend Lorenzo. 50 minutes on waterbus №12 and we arrived on this lego build like island.
Got lucky to get the for the first time in the evening, when all the tourist rushed back to Venice. And this little island was all ours. Here is my favorite trattoria "Al gatto nero" and tasty cookies bussola.
Lorenzo told me 3 popular legends about Burano colors.

1💛In the past many families had same surname so the houses colors were associated to particular families and their nicknames.
2💙The houses were painted in green, blue, yellow, red .. all for the fishermen to be able to find their home coming back during the fog. Some other says the fog was in their mind cause of alcohol.
3💚 According to this legend fishermen's wives were left with a lot of Or they couldn't find the same colors or were choosing it this way to stand out.
Colorful houses attracting tourists from all over and their proud owners happily continue to decorate them
