GLADIATOR COMBAT: RETIARIO -vs- SECUTOR

Featuring the modern day gladiators of Ludus Picenus - Scuola Gladiatoria in Italy

FIlmed during the Ocriculum AD 168 event, Summer 2019.

The lightly armored piscatorial Retiario (Retiarius) takes on the heavily armored mountainous Secutor ("The Chaser"). Running circles around the Secutor, Retiario aims to snare his slow moving opponent with his net or exhaust him in the chase weakening him enough to go for the kill with his knife.

Gladiators' Names: OLYMPUS
Main Weapons: Scutum (shield), Gladius (sword)
Armor: Helmet, Manicae on Left Arm, Bronze Ocrae on Right Leg, Leather Protection on Left Leg
Type of Combat: Close contact combat with an approach like a "Testudo" (Turtle). The tower shield gives Murmillo and edge in defense and keeps his gladius from opponent's view. When in close rage, Murmillo uses his gladius to thrust at his opponent.

Gladiator Class: HOPLOMACHUS
Gladiator Name: VOLCOS
Main Weapons: Parmula (sheld), Hasta (spear), Sica (knife)
Armor: Helmet, Manicae on Right Arm, Bronze Ocrae on both legs, Long Padded Protection on both legs
Type or Combat: Fighting style that represents Greek and Illyrian warriors, the Hoplite. Open the guard of opponent with the spear, then aim for a final blow with his knife. Exhaust opponent with continuous attacks them aim for opponent's shoulder that carries the shield. Loss of arm carrying the shield is a technical KO.

THE TOURNAMENT - Upon completing his 3rd and final training level for Sword and Buckler medieval fencing with Compagnia d'Arme Sancto Eramo, young Gabriel set out to challenge his swordsmanship skills in the annual Medieval Fencing Tournament of Moncalieri in northern Italy where armored swordsmen displayed their martial prowess competing in Medieval fencing duels.

With nerves matching the steel of his sword, Gabriel set out on his first knightly competition bravely facing opponents much more experienced than him.

IL TORNEO - Dopo aver completato il terzo livello di spada e brocchiero studiando il codice I33 con la Compagnia D’Arme Sancto Eramo , il giovane Gabriele si e’ spinto piu’ in avanti nel dimostrare la
Sua perizia con la Spada, lo ha fatto partecipando al torneo di Scherma Storica che si tiene annualmente a Moncalieri.

In questo torneo molti eccellenti praticanti si sfidano in duelli avvincenti usando le protezioni dell’epoca.Con nervi di acciaio uguali al metallo della sua lama,Gabriele si e’fatto onore sfidando e combattendo con cavalieri con molta piu’ esperienza di lui e dimostrando grande valore e forza d’animo.
