Easter in San Biagio, Sicily, when the town comes together

On Easter morning, San Biagio Platani transforms.

The Archi di Pasqua are finally complete, filling the main street with colour, light, and incredible detail. Structures made of cane come alive with intricate decorations of bread and seeds, carefully crafted over weeks and brought together the night before.

At the heart of the celebration is the 'Incontro', the meeting between the resurrected Christ and the Virgin Mary. It’s a moment that blends faith, tradition, and emotion, set against a backdrop that feels both festive and deeply rooted in history.

But beyond the ceremony, what stands out is the sense of community. People return from elsewhere just to be here. Greetings of “Buona Pasqua” echo through the street, and for a day, everything feels connected again.

Like many small towns, San Biagio Platani faces quieter times through the year, with many young people moving away. Yet, traditions like this are kept alive, often driven by the younger generations themselves, giving new energy to something deeply rooted.

From the quiet work of the night before to this vibrant celebration, the transformation is complete.

If you ever find yourself in at , come and experience this for yourself!

A night before Easter in , the 'Archi' take shape.

In San Biagio Platani, begins long before the morning celebrations.

Every year, the town comes together to create the Archi di Pasqua, intricate arches that transform the main street into a passage of symbols, , and . Built using simple and natural materials like , seeds, and wood, they reflect a tradition that has been carried on for generations. Months of work to be done by Easter day.

Last year I was there the night before Easter, when everything is still unfinished. The street becomes a shared workspace. People gather, work, laugh, pause for a drink, then carry on...till dawn. I could witness the rush, the purpose and a sense of community. Hands moving, structures rising, details taking shape in the dark.

In black and white, I wanted to focus on this moment. Not the spectacle, but the process. The human side of tradition. The quiet collaboration that makes everything possible.

Just wait for Easter day and the same street will look completely different. And I will show you in the next carousel!

Did you know about this initiative? Would you have a chance to visit? They will be on display for a month!

🏙Blue hour over the Arno, Florence, Italy

Seen from , this is Ponte alle Grazie at , when the last light of the day fades and the city begins to glow.

The warm tones of the street lights stretch across the , blending into the deep blue of the sky and water. Everything softens. Reflections ripple gently, and familiar places take on a quieter presence.

has always been shaped by the river that runs through it, and bridges like this one have connected its daily life for centuries.

I’m always drawn to these transitions. Moments where light shifts, colours balance, and the city slows down just enough to be observed.

❄ Olympic light at Arco della Pace during

During the celebrations for Milano Cortina 2026, Arco della Pace took on a new presence.
The flame, held in the , marked the rhythm of the evening, while light and sound (by Roberto Cacciapaglia) transformed the arch at the beginning of every hour, drawing crowds together.

Built in the 19th century as a symbol of peace, during these nights, its meaning felt quietly amplified, with shifting lights, changing colours, and perspectives that revealed themselves over time.

I photographed the arch from different angles, sometimes aligning the flame with the distant silhouette of the Castle, sometimes letting a thin crescent moon enter the frame. Other times, the story unfolded through the presence of people: crowds walking through Castello , phones raised, moments briefly shared and then gone.

What stayed with me was the sense of collective attention, a city gathering around light, movement, and time.

Ponte Vecchio at blue hour, Florence, 🇮🇹

There’s a moment in , just after sunset, when light begins to tell a different story. This image was taken during , when the sky deepens and the warm lights of start to glow, reflecting gently on the .

Built in the 14th century, Ponte Vecchio has watched Florence change for centuries, floods, wars, daily life passing through its small shops and narrow arches. At this hour, its presence feels quieter, almost intimate.

I wanted this photograph to feel calm but alive. The contrast between cool blue tones and golden light, the soft movement of the , the details of the structure, all working together to create a piece that brings depth and atmosphere into a space, not noise.

In this carousel you’ll see the full scene, a closer look at the bridge details, and how it lives as a print.

🍃The texture of

A single green , growing quietly from the textured bark of a .
I captured this image while walking through the quieter streets of Sirmione, drawn by the contrast between colour and surface, softness and structure.

This photograph was submitted to the 2025 under the theme “le trame della natura” — the textures of nature — and I’m truly happy it was by the among the top images. It will be part of the official next year!

Moments like this remind me why I’m drawn to minimal scenes: nature doesn’t need much to speak, just space to be observed.

❄ Winter vibes from San Bernardino, Swiss alps ❄

felt like the right moment to share these winter scenes from , in the .

A slow walk with friends through -covered forests, the scent of and in the air, wooden and stone built to resist time and weather, and a long pause for lunch in a traditional alpine .
Up here, everything seems reduced to essentials. Light, cold air, silence, and the geometry of .

San Bernardino sits on an ancient alpine pass that has connected northern and southern Europe for centuries, a place shaped by transit, yet still deeply quiet once winter arrives.

Sometimes winter is not about harshness, but about stillness and balance.

A quiet guardian on the river Cam, , UK

An afternoon walk along the , where the tours gather and time seems to slow down.
Among the anchored punts, my attention was caught by a , still, upright, watchful. From time to time, it bent its long neck to carefully tend its , a small ritual of balance and patience.

Herons are masters of stillness. They can stand motionless for long minutes, conserving energy, observing, waiting. Along rivers like this, they quietly coexist with the rhythm of the city, reminding us how nature adapts, without ever rushing.

The low afternoon light filtered through the trees, carving contrasts between sun and shade, and . A fleeting moment, calm and alert at the same time, one that made me stop and simply watch.

Cologne through my lens: bridges, faith, light, and tiny stories along the Rhine.

A few frames from my days wandering around , a city shaped by the , rebuilt by resilience, and alive with contrasts.

From the soaring silhouette of Kölner Dom at blue hour to the quiet poetry of locks on the . From the soft light on the river to the geometric beauty of architecture.

Cologne is a blend of old and new, devotion and daily life, structure and emotion, and that’s exactly what I tried to capture. Tiny details, historic landmarks, wide perspectives… all pieces of the same story.

More from this trip is coming soon and if you enjoy these visual journeys, feel free to follow for the next ones 🌍✨

Rush and stillness in Oxford Circus, London

, caught some time ago in one of its most iconic contrasts: the of and flowing through the city, and a single moment of held in the frame.

A softened the movement of the crowd and blurred the passing , while the classic stands out as the only touch of colour in an otherwise scene. London’s rhythm, distilled.

If this scene resonates with you, or if you know someone who loves the energy of cities, it’s now available in the print as a , , or panel.

On a warm summer night in the Sicilian countryside, I stood under one of the darkest skies I know, letting my eyes adjust until the Milky Way slowly revealed itself.
In this image, the diagonal dark band of the Great Rift crosses the frame, with the bright glow of the galactic core shimmering behind it. Light that has travelled thousands of years to reach that moment.

To capture the faint starry details, I created this photo by stacking multiple exposures, gently lifting the soft textures and colours that our eyes cannot fully see in real time.

If you can imagine this piece on one of your walls, or as a gift for someone who loves the night sky, you can find it in the Of Earth and Skies shop as a poster, canvas, or foam panel - link in bio.
