Honoured to have four individual images from my Caldera and Collateral series recognised in this year’s Australian Photographic Prize, with one receiving Silver and three Highly Commended awards.

These works were judged as standalone images rather than as a series, so it means a great deal to see each frame recognised on its own merit while still forming part of the wider stories of Collateral and Caldera.

“Diamonds and Dust series 2025” Who would have thought that in 2025/26 ancient trees would need security guards — not from the elements, but from humans.

Watching people climb and hang from ancient camel thorn trees in bikinis for social media content is difficult to understand. These landscapes are not props, and these trees are not platforms.

We are visitors here. Some places should simply be witnessed, respected and left untouched. Something needs to change.

“Himalayas 2024. “ Flashback to flying into Lhasa, Tibet over the Himalayas. It was one of the most magical moments I’ve ever experienced. I cried the entire flight in awe of the beauty and sheer majesty before me. Once you’ve been amongst these mountains, they become a part of your soul… and they still call to me.

“From the Ashes-Caldera series 2026” Deeply honoured to have Caldera recognised as an Official Selection in the International Photography Awards 2026.

This is a series I put myself on the rim and on the line for. I’m incredibly grateful for the recognition that both Caldera and its sister series, Collateral, have received so far.

Photographing my award-winning series Caldera, including Core of Consequence and The Divide, at sunset on the rim meant standing often just a metre from the edge. During the larger eruptions, the downward draft was so strong I’d dig my boots into the volcanic earth to stop myself being pulled into the core.

That physical experience became part of the psychology behind Caldera. Sometimes we have to dig our feet in, resist the pull, and fight our way back.

If you look closely, the frame shakes violently during the second boom. That was the physical reality of the volcanic rim trembling beneath me. Shooting in this unstable environment was terrifying, but facing that void was something I had to do for myself-and for everyone who has survived the heavy fallout of a rupture.
Re-feeling those intense emotions on the shaking edge was incredibly hard, yet profoundly empowering. It was the moment the damage became the design.
Caldera and Collateral are two immersive conceptual series representing my most raw work to date.
Captured through the handheld lens of Deep Heart Earth®, they explore the lasting consequences of proximity to unstable power, the internal fire, and the rise after.

“After the Rupture” The official launch of Caldera, a 12-piece psychological conceptual series exploring the violent after effects and lasting consequences of being collateral damage. To capture the true emotional impact of this collapse, I stood directly on the unstable volcanic rim, my camera entirely handheld. Balancing on the edge, feeling the ground tremble, and looking down into the void was the only way to translate that raw, isolating pressure into visual art. This project represents the rawest extension of my artistic vision for Deep Heart Earth®. While the full Caldera series is live today, the broader Field Notes Galleries will serve as a living archive, updated with standalone field documentation over time. Note: The full release of my black-and-white series, COLLATERAL—which explores the close proximity of power and part one of my dual series will debut exclusively Milano Photo Awards this September.
