Arianna and Matthew booked their pre-wedding session in Otranto from another country, Canada, before we'd ever spoken to each other properly.
That's a strange kind of trust to ask for, handing something this personal to two people you've only seen through a portfolio, in a place you don't know, without an easy way to just stop by and check in person.
We feel that weight too, every time a couple books us from somewhere else.
So before anything was locked in, we got to know each other, walked through what mattered to them, and talked through Otranto itself, the actual spot, the actual hour, what the light would be doing, so nothing on the day would be a surprise to either side.
Meeting your photographer in person for the first time, hours before your session, should feel like a risk.
For Arianna and Matthew, it didn't, because by then, we'd already done the only part that actually needed doing in person: the planning.
