🇮🇹 Sono davvero felice di condividere una bella notizia.

Lunedì 13 il mio documentario "Il mio vicino è un orso andrà in onda su GEO Magazine, su Rai 3, a partire dalle 17:50.

Questo film rappresenta un capitolo molto importante del mio percorso. È nato dopo anni trascorsi tra le montagne d'Abruzzo cercando di raccontare il delicato rapporto tra l'uomo e l'orso bruno marsicano.

Negli anni il documentario ha avuto la fortuna di viaggiare molto: è stato nominato ai Panda Awards, distribuito su WaterBear Network ed Ecoflix e, soprattutto, ha raggiunto tante persone.

Vederlo ora arrivare anche sulla televisione pubblica italiana è per me motivo di grande soddisfazione e un piccolo traguardo personale.

Se lunedì pomeriggio siete davanti alla TV, mi farà piacere sapere cosa ne pensate.

🇬🇧 I'm really happy to share some good news.

This Monday 13th, my documentary My Neighbour is a Bear will be broadcast on GEO Magazine on Rai 3, one of Italy's national television channels, from 5:50 pm (CEST).

This film represents a very important chapter of my journey. It was born after years spent in the mountains of Abruzzo, trying to tell the delicate story of the relationship between people and the critically endangered Marsican brown bear.

Over the years, the documentary has been fortunate enough to travel widely. It was nominated for the Panda Awards, distributed on WaterBear Network and Ecoflix, and, above all, it has reached many people.

Seeing it now broadcast on Italian national television is a real source of pride and another meaningful milestone in my journey as a filmmaker.

If you're in Italy and happen to be watching on Monday afternoon, I'd love to hear what you think.

Eight years ago, I was taking photos during one of my wild adventures. Since then, the experiences have multiplied, along with the encounters that have shaped my journey.

Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful for the path I've taken and for the thousands of moments that have filled me with wonder and made me shiver with joy.

Un piccolo fratino si affaccia a un mondo tanto affascinante quanto difficile.

Nella foto, il ritratto di un pullo di fratino (Charadrius alexandrinus). Nel video, un padre che protegge il proprio piccolo in un ambiente che dovrebbe essere la sua casa.

Proprio nei mesi che precedono la stagione balneare, lungo gran parte della costa Adriatica avviene la pulizia meccanica delle spiagge, spesso in coincidenza con il periodo riproduttivo di questa specie. Nidi, uova e pulcini possono essere disturbati o distrutti, mentre la perdita di habitat riduce sempre più gli spazi disponibili.

Proteggere il fratino non significa rinunciare alle spiagge, ma imparare a condividerle.

A couple of days spent with Razorbills and Puffins, under skies that were mostly grey and overcast.

The light wasn't always what I would have hoped for, so instead of fighting the conditions, I decided to experiment.
One idea I wanted to explore was isolating the birds against the bright, featureless sky, reducing the scene to its simplest elements: shape, posture and character.

Sometimes the most interesting images come from working with the conditions you're given rather than the ones you wish for.

An unexpected shot, taken just when I had started to lose hope.
For two days, it was rain, wind, and cold. The light never really arrived, and the puffin colony felt almost empty. Most of them were out fishing; the others were tucked away in their burrows, incubating their eggs.
Then, for five minutes, the sky opened.
That was the window.
A puffin landed on the rock I had been watching, turned toward me, and gave me this gaze.
Sometimes nature gives you nothing for hours, and then everything in a few seconds.

Dopo mesi di silenzio, torno a pubblicare.
Lo faccio con tre immagini.

Tre anni fa, durante un grande shooting di My Time with Wolves - Il mio tempo con i lupi, ho vissuto un’esperienza fatta di emozione, attesa e pazienza. La neve non arrivava mai. E i lupi nemmeno.
Dopo settimane passate ad aspettare, nel freddo e nel gelo, sembrava che nulla dovesse succedere. Era un banco di prova, il primo capitolo del lungometraggio, quello che da copione avrebbe dovuto aprire il film. Poi, un giorno di marzo, qualcosa di magico accadde. E riempì il cuore di chi era lì.
Ci sono momenti in cui la natura non si lascia inseguire, ma solo aspettare. E quando finalmente decide di mostrarsi, lascia dentro qualcosa che non si dimentica.

After months of silence, I’m posting again.
I’m doing it with three images.

Three years ago, during a major shoot for My Time with Wolves - Il mio tempo con i lupi, I lived through an experience made of emotion, waiting, and patience.
The snow never came. And neither did the wolves.
After weeks spent waiting in the cold and the frost, it seemed like nothing was going to happen. It was a real test; the first chapter of the feature film, the one that, according to the script, was meant to open the story.
Then, one day in March, something magical happened. And it filled the hearts of those who were there.
There are moments when nature cannot be chased, only waited for. And when it finally decides to reveal itself, it leaves something inside you that you never forget.
