This is not the little mermaid story you know.
This is the story of a woman of the sea… who fell in love with the land.

A story about longing.
About dreams that never truly belong to one place.
About existing somewhere in between.

Because living abroad feels a little like that too, doesn’t it?
Part of your heart belongs to the waves that raised you, while another quietly learns the language of a new shore.

When she asked me to create a romantic story for her, I knew I didn’t want to tell only one side of the tale.
Because every beautiful story carries contrast within it.
Love and loneliness.
Freedom and nostalgia.
Wonder and ache.

And maybe that is what made this story feel so real.
Not a fairytale about choosing one world over another…
but about learning how to belong to both.

Some women are simply made of tides.
Always searching.
Always returning.
Always torn between the places they love. 🌊

They said yes to Sicily.
And they said yes to me — trusting me to capture their love story in one of the most timeless corners of the world.

Taormina has a way of making every emotion feel even more intense. The golden light, the sea, the narrow romantic streets… everything becomes part of the story. But what truly makes these moments unforgettable are the people standing in front of my lens.

Listening their words after the wedding and the photo session reminded me why I love what I do so deeply. Because photography is not only about beautiful images — it’s about preserving the feeling of a moment that will never happen the same way twice.

Sicily gives us colors that are almost impossible to ignore — deep blue skies, golden light, warm stone, wild greens. Sometimes I even ask myself: does a black-and-white photo make sense in a place like this?

And yet… from time to time I still “commit” the small sin of removing all the colors.

Because when the colors disappear, something else begins to speak louder.
The way two people look at each other.
The quiet strength in a gesture.
The light touching a face.

Black and white strips the scene down to its essence. No distractions. Just emotion, form, and the story between two people.

So yes — in the middle of this island of breathtaking colors, I still fall in love with black and white photography. And I suspect I always will.

In Noto, light doesn’t just illuminate — it tells a love story.
