Chamonix is my all-time favorite mountain town! After three (going on four) trips back to this gorgeous valley, these are the top 10 things I would recommend to anyone visiting for the first time...

1. Aiguille du Midi
2. Grand Balcon Nord trail
3. Chalet de La Floria
4. Lac Bleu
5. Lac Blanc
6. Mer de Glace (from above)
7. Mer de Glace (inside the ice caves)
8. Cascade du Dard
9. Brévent Cable Car
10. Downtown Chamonix

PS. Quite a few of the spots on this list are lift-accessible. You can purchase a Mont Blanc Multi-Pass in advance to cover all of your gondola, chairlift and cable car rides while in Chamonix. This pass saves you tons of time and money if you plan to take multiple lifts during your trip.

I've visited Chamonix three times now and hiked every trail on this list personally - and loved all of them! The best part is that most of the hiking in Chamonix is far more accessible than it looks, thanks to the gondola and lift systems. Here are the top day hikes I would recommend to anyone.

After 3 visits to Chamonix, I still can’t get enough of this gorgeous mountain town. We’re already planning our return for next summer, which I think speaks for itself!

From the vibe of the town to the glacier views to the food (!!) and cute mountain huts perched along the (many many) trails, everything is simply 100/10.

• Mer de Glace glacier & ice caves via Montenvers Train
• Book a paragliding adventure (sooo popular)

• Grand Balcon Nord one-way route
• Lac Blanc from the top of L’Index Chairlift
• Lac Bleu (or do this as a detour on the Grand Balcon Nord)

Chamonix is literally the DREAM destination for outdoorsy travelers & hikers 🙌🇫🇷

The Chamonix area is super famous for the lengthy Tour du Mont Blanc…but that doesn’t mean that short & sweet day hikes don’t exist. In fact, there are SO many day hikes that have insanely epic views in under 5 miles.

These are the ones I’ve loved most & would recommend to everyone who visits ⤵️

1. Grand Balcon Nord (one way) from the Aiguille du Midi mid-station to the Montenvers top station above the Mer de Glace

2. Lac Bleu from the Aiguille du Midi mid-station (or add it as a short detour on your Grand Balcon Nord hike)

3. Lac Blanc out-and-back from the top of L’Index chairlift

4. Cascade du Dard out-and-back from downtown Chamonix

5. Chalet de La Floria out-and-back from downtown Chamonix (or do this as a stop along the Petit Balcon Sud trail)

Literally awful 👀😏

But in all seriousness...

The Dolomites have to be some of the most epic mountains in the world. Am I biased by living at the base of them? Maybe. But there’s no doubt this area of Italy is an outdoorsy person’s paradise.

Plus, pairing dreamy mountain trails with delicious food and coffee around every corner? What more could you possibly ask for?!
