To prove that the statement of his devotee Prahlada Maharaj was substantial - in other words, to prove that the Supreme deity is present everywhere, even within the pillar of an assembly hall - the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, exhibited a wonderful form never seen before. The form was neither that of a man nor that of a lion. Thus the Lord appeared in his wonderful form in the assembly hall. ~Srimad Bhagavatam 7.8.17
Shubha Narasimha Jayanthi 🦁
This sculpture of Ugra Narasimha having multiple hands with claws, tearing apart the Asura King, Hiranyakashipu is carved on a pillar attached to the eastern exterior walls sorrounding the garbhagriha of the Chennakeshava temple, Belur
Hiranyakashipu the asura being killed by Narasimha, neither indoors nor outdoors (on a threshold), neither in day nor night (at twilight), neither in space nor on the ground (on his lap), by neither man nor animal (half man, half lion) by neither animate nor inanimate (his claws).
The chainlike things are Asura's intestines. It is stunning to note how the most profound details like the sharp tooth and the fingernails digging into flesh have been depicted.
