Today, the Pahari Cultural Club Tangdhar Karnah observed the 28th death anniversary of the Late Qazi Muhammad Alam Qureshi, remembering a great personality who dedicated his life to the promotion, preservation, and development of Pahari language, culture, and heritage.
Qazi Muhammad Alam Qureshi was not only a great Actor, artist, singer, and teacher, but also one of the pioneering figures of the Pahari cultural movement. He was among those who helped lay the foundation of the Pahari Cultural Club at a time when there was a strong need to preserve and promote the Pahari language and cultural identity. From the very beginning, he worked tirelessly to bring Pahari culture and Sqaafat to a wider platform.
From Karnah to Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara and other parts of Jammu & Kashmir, he travelled to different places and organised cultural programmes, introducing people to the richness of Pahari language, folk traditions, music, literature, and cultural heritage. Through his performances, singing, acting, teaching, and cultural activities, he worked continuously to give Pahari culture a stronger identity and a wider recognition.
Until his passing in 1998, he remained actively involved in promoting Pahari culture and never stopped working for its preservation and progress. His contribution was not limited to one place or one generation; he helped create a cultural platform that inspired many others to carry forward the Pahari language and its traditions.
On his 28th death anniversary, members of the Pahari Cultural Club, civil society members, social activists, cultural enthusiasts, and people associated with the Pahari community gathered to remember his valuable contribution. Poetry and words of tribute were presented in his memory, and prayers were offered for the departed soul.
