Anti-Drug Enforcement Drive Continues in Sopore Under Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan; One Drug Peddler Arrested*
Sopore, July 17, 2026:
In continuation of the ongoing anti-drug enforcement drive under the *100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan,* Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling in the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand.
During patrolling at Neharpora, Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to personal search. *During the search, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure.*
The accused has been identified as:
*Abid Fayaz Shah, S/O Fayaz Ahmad Shah, R/O Neharpora Bagh Ali Street Sopore.*
Accordingly, FIR No. 174/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider network involved.
Sopore Police reiterated that strict action against drug peddlers and traffickers will continue across the district. Every effort is being made to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem and prevent the spread of drugs among the youth.
