THE HISTORY OF RAMESWARAM TEMPLE

1. MYTHOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Rameswaram is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
According to the Ramayana, after defeating Ravana in Lanka,
Lord Rama came here to wash away his sins.
Goddess Sita made a Shiva Linga out of sand from the sea -
called "Ramalingam".
Lord Hanuman brought another Linga from Kashi - called "Vishwalingam".
Both are worshipped here even today.

2. ARCHITECTURAL MARVEL
- It has the LONGEST CORRIDOR in the world - 1212 meters long
with over 4000 carved pillars.
- The temple has 22 holy wells or "Teerthams".
It is believed that taking a bath in all 22 wells washes away all sins.
- The main Gopuram is 53 meters high.
- Located near Dhanushkodi, the starting point of Ram Setu.

3. CONSTRUCTION & HISTORY
The earliest parts of the temple were built in the 12th century
by the Pandya Dynasty. Later it was expanded by the Chola,
Vijayanagar and Sethupathi kings over centuries.

Rameswaram is one of the Char Dhams and a major pilgrimage
site for Hindus across India.

LINGARAJA TEMPLE
Bhubaneswar, Odisha | 11th Century CE

Ye hai Kalinga architecture ka sabse bada udaharan.
Ise 11th century me King Jajati Keshari ne banwaya tha.
Somavanshi Dynasty ka ye sabse shandaar kaam hai.

Yaha virajmaan hain Bhagwan "Tribhuvaneshwara"
Matlab - Shiv, Vishnu aur Devi teeno ek saath.
Shivling ka naam hai "Swayambhu Lingam"

Mandir ki unchai 180 feet hai aur pura lal pathar se bana hai.
Maanata hai ki yaha pooja karne se teeno lokon ke paap dhul jaate hain.

Ye mandir 800 saal purana hai.
Ise Raja Narasimha Deva ne banwaya tha.

Sabse khaas baat -
Isme ek bhi cement ya chune ka use nahi hua.
Sirf patthar jod kar banaya gaya hai.
Aaj bhi itna majboot hai.

Kehete hain mandir ke beech me ek bada chumbak tha.
Wo samundar ke jahazon ko apni taraf kheechta tha.
Angrezon ne wo chumbak chori kar liya.
Isliye mandir ka kuch hissa gir gaya.

Ye mandir Surya Dev ka rath hai.
24 pahiye = 24 ghante
7 ghode = 7 din

Aaj ye UNESCO World Heritage Site hai.
Bharat ki shaan hai 🙏

LINGRAJ TEMPLE - POORI HISTORY

Name: Lingraj Temple
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha
Dedicated to: Lord Shiva - Harihara Roop (Shiva + Vishnu dono)

History:
Lingraj Mandir 11th century me banaya gaya tha. Ise Somavanshi Dynasty ke
King Jajati Keshari ne banwana shuru kiya tha. Ye Kalinga Architecture ka
sabse sundar udaharan hai.

Main Points:
1. Odisha ka sabse bada aur sabse purana mandir complex hai
2. Mandir ki unchai 55 meter yaani 180 feet hai
3. Pura mandir bina cement ke patharon se bana hai
4. Andar Swayambhu Shivling hai jo khud prakat hua hai
5. Yaha Bhagwan Shiva ko Harihara ke roop me pooja jati hai
6. Non-Hindus ko andar jaane ki anumati nahi hai
7. Mukhya Tyohar: Maha Shivratri aur Ashokashtami
