Spotlight Series: Harsh Readers Circle 🎭📚✨

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to photograph Harsh Readers Circle, part of Court Theatre Spotlight Series, at the Woodson Regional Library. 📸

Another powerful evening from the Spotlight Reading Series. 🎭📸

On August 12, I photographed Kuumba Theatre Archive Unfurling, featuring Nix Mendy, Johanna Russ, and special guest Pemon Rami.

The evening explored the legacy of Kuumba Theatre, the Black Arts Movement, and the deep roots of Black theatre in Chicago. It was great capturing an evening centered on preserving the stories and contributions that helped shape Chicago’s arts and culture.

🎭📸 An incredible evening celebrating the power of storytelling and Black theatre.

I had the opportunity to photograph Court Theatre’s Spotlight Reading of August Wilson’s "How I Learned What I Learned", featuring the incomparable Ron OJ Parson.

Watching Ron step onto the stage and bring August Wilson’s words, humor, history, and humanity to life was something special. I was laughing very hard a number of times that a few people in the audience looked at me in amusement.

And I have to shout out my longtime friend Andrew Gardner, who was on stage putting in work as well! I always love seeing people I've known for years continue to do what they love and shine in their craft. 👏🏾🎭 Love to see it!

A special thank you to Kamilah Rashied (Official) Kelcie Beene and the entire Court Theatre team for continuing to create and present such thoughtful, engaging, and culturally meaningful events. You all consistently put together experiences that remind us just how important these stories and the spaces that hold them truly are. 🙏🏾

Happy 19th Birthday to my beautiful niece Kamia 🎉🎂🥳💛

Man... where did the time go? It honestly feels like just yesterday you were a little girl running around, and now you're 19 years old. Watching you grow into such a beautiful, confident, and kind young woman has been one of life's greatest blessings ❤️

I'm grateful I had the opportunity to capture this milestone for you. Even with the little time we had, you absolutely crushed this birthday shoot! 📸

As you begin this next chapter, never stop believing in yourself. Chase every dream, trust God's plan for your life, and remember that your family will always be in your corner cheering you on🙏🏾

I'm a little late posting these, but some moments are worth revisiting. 🙌🏾

I had the privilege of witnessing an incredible performance by Damon Locks at Blanc Gallery, and I left inspired.

Damon Locks is a creative genius. The way he blends music, visual art, storytelling, history, and community into a single experience is something truly special. Every moment invited the audience to think, feel, and engage on a deeper level. 🎨🎶✨

I'm grateful I was able to document a few moments from such a powerful evening. Better late than never... enjoy a few of my favorite images! 📸🙏🏾

Spent some quality time with Noah and Jazzy at The Understudy Coffee and Books a couple weeks ago ☕📚💻✨ and it was a great time!

Before Noah started camp at The Academy Group, I wanted to spend some intentional time with him while also exposing both him to something new and different 🙌🏽 I always value moments like these... creating experiences, learning together, and stepping into new spaces.

Noah absolutely loved it 😄 and so did Jaz Ollie ❤️ There’s something special about discovering places that inspire creativity, focus, and meaningful conversation all at once.

Can’t wait to go back again soon! 👏🏽

Big shoutout to Jarrett for putting me on to this gem. I’ll post some pics from the work we got done there one day soon 👀📸
