Handwara Police Tightens Grip On Drug Mafia: SSP Sahil Sarangal (IPS), SDPO Faisal Hussain & SHO Mudassir Shafi Lead From The Front.
Handwara, March 28: In a powerful demonstration of unwavering commitment and professional excellence, Handwara Police under the dynamic leadership of Sahil Sarangal, Faisal Hussain, and Mudassir Shafi has once again delivered a major blow to the drug menace, reinforcing public confidence in the law enforcement system.
Acting on heightened vigilance and a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, a well-coordinated naka checking operation was established at Lilam Crossing on March 28, 2026.
The naka was part of an intensified anti-drug campaign being actively spearheaded by the district police under the close supervision of SDPO Handwara Faisal Hussain, aimed at curbing the rising threat of substance abuse and trafficking in the region.
During the operation, a police party led by HC Ali Mohammad (309/H), working under the strategic guidance of senior officers, intercepted two individuals roaming under suspicious circumstances.
The alertness and professionalism of the naka team proved decisive, as timely intervention led to the apprehension of the suspects.
Upon preliminary questioning, the individuals identified themselves as Mudassir Ahmad Mir S/o Maqsood Ahmad Mir R/o Daril and Rahul S/o Raj Kumar R/o Koti Ise Khan, Moga, Punjab.
Their suspicious behaviour raised further red flags, prompting a thorough personal search.
In a significant recovery, approximately 09 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of Mudassir Ahmad Mir, while 07 grams was recovered from Rahul.
The seizure once again highlights the relentless and well-coordinated efforts of Handwara Police under the supervision of SDPO Faisal Hussain in dismantling drug supply chains and preventing the spread of narcotics among the youth.
Following the recovery, a case FIR No. 12/2026 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered,
