Sudip grew up in a lower-middle-class family in Badkulla, a small town in Nadia district. From childhood, he was a bright student. After completing his degree in literature, he started preparing for civil service and other government job exams, while also writing poems and short stories in his spare time. A few of his works were published in school and college magazines in the district.

Even though he passed several exams, he couldn’t make it through the interviews or final selection panels. Suddenly, developed a strong interest in cinema. He missed the chance to study at a film institute but got admitted to the Film Studies department at Jadavpur University instead.

While doing his MA there, he also began working as an assistant director in mainstream films — a journey that has continued for the past 12 years. Now, with solid experience as an associate and assistant director, he is steadily moving toward making his own films. Sudip is hopeful that if he can tell the right stories in the right way, he can set new examples in mainstream cinema.
