Starting the year with photos taken on the last day of the previous year 😅. A wonderful trip to the birding paradise of Mangalajodi. Witnessing this pair of playful Egrets was such a delight.

The living root bridge
On this World Photography Day
some photographs from Meghalaya - where you find one of the most unique engineering marvels ever seen - the Living Root Bridges or simply the Root Bridge.
Although there are numerous such bridges across the state, this one is probably the most accessible one
What makes them unique is the use of no external / chemical/ mechanical aid in their construction. Roots from the Rubber Tree are carefully threaded and transformed into cables, which are then used to construct these bridges.
It takes around 50 years to build a bridge and lasts for generations.
