🛑The exiled Nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah(the eleventh and last king of Awadh)—a close friend of Raja Rajendra Mullick—contributed to the zoo by gifting several exotic birds, including the rare white peacock.
[This connection was previously mentioned in the post on Basu Bati, the residence of Nandalal Bose, where the auspicious Raksha Bandhan event was organized under the leadership of Rabindranath Tagore.]
🛑The first enclosure of the Alipore Zoo(Kolkata), known as The Mullick House, was constructed with the financial help of Raja Rajendra Mullick Bahadur. He was considered the first Indian donor of the zoo. He donated not only money but also different birds and animals to the zoo such as bear-like monkey, fish-eagle, white stork, black headed ibis, demoiselle crane etc.
