The Annapurna Base Camp North trek (ABC Trek) this route is also known as Maurice Herzog Trail—especially from the north-side approaches—is one of the most iconic Himalayan journeys in Nepal. It combines dramatic mountain scenery, cultural immersion, and relatively accessible trekking conditions compared to more extreme expeditions.
The main destination, Annapurna Base Camp, sits at about 4,050 meters which is called Panch kund lake. but this is not the final one. After this, one step up to Camp One, where the expedition began [4,190 meters].
These routes are: More remote and less crowded
Higher altitude → more challenging. Often require better trekking experience.
Duration: 5 to 6 days. for me, it’s an easy trek. But altitude sickness is a real risk above 3,000 meters.
Weather can change quickly, especially in winter.
Best Time to Go: Spring (March–May) → Rhododendron blooms
Autumn (Sept–Nov) → Clear skies, best mountain views
Permits Needed: ACAP

It had been a while since I last stood this close to the sky. This trek in Nepal wasn’t just a journey through mountains—it was a quiet reminder of resilience, patience, and the simple joy of putting one foot in front of the other.
