🚶‍♀️𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐩𝐡𝐮 - 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 5

Mist slips like a whispered thought
Across the quiet shoulders of the hills,
Where earth breathes in shades of brown and green
And time itself seems to stand still.

Clouds gather like untold stories,
Soft and heavy in the sky’s embrace,
While a shard of blue breaks gently through—
A promise the storm won’t erase.

🚶‍♀️𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐩𝐡𝐮 - 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 4

The Himalayas never fail to enchant me—
their silent grandeur speaks to something deep within.
Again and again, I find my way back to them,
as if my soul remembers a home my mind cannot name.

In their towering stillness, I shed the weight of the world,
and in their whispering winds, I gather myself anew.

🚶‍♀️𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐩𝐡𝐮 - 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝟐

The trek starts from Manebhanjan up to Chitre. The route passes through forested areas for several parts where it could be at times boulder pathway, natural muddy pathway, or even long concrete stairways through the mountains offering short cuts. This route through the Singalila range up to Sandakphu goes along the border of India & Nepal.

Hiking through mountain is an excellent experience for mountain lovers.

📍 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐛𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐧

Manebhanjan (or Mane Bhanjyang) is a small mountain township located about 26kms from Darjeeling, 92kms from Siliguri, and on the border of India and Nepal at an altitude of 7,054 ft (2,150 m).

From Shiliguri we reached Maneybhanjan by shared jeeps. Maneybhanjan, is the gateway to the Sandakphu region.

This is a normal motorable road although there is a 4km trekking route available between Sukhiapokhri and Manebhanjan. The treks and the Land Rover safaris start from Manebhanjan in the morning.

𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐜𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 ✨

The magnificent Cooch Behar Palace, also known as the Victor Jubilee Palace, was built in 1887 during the reign of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. The palace draws clear inspiration from Buckingham Palace, showcasing a grand Indo-Saracenic architectural style — a beautiful fusion of European elegance and Indian elements.

Its striking red façade, classical columns, graceful arches, and perfectly symmetrical design make it one of the finest royal structures in West Bengal. Inside, the palace now houses a museum displaying royal antiques, oil paintings, terracotta artefacts, and rare photographs of the Koch dynasty.

The highlight remains the breathtaking Durbar Hall, crowned with a magnificent gilded dome that reflects the grandeur of a bygone era 👑

A visit here isn’t just sightseeing — it’s stepping into history.
