It was 3 in the morning. Somewhere in Kolkata. The eighth day of pujo. Oishi looked in the mirror for some time and started singing a very familiar song of a band I have been following since childhood. I don't really remember which one. But I do remember how I woke up intoxicated by the tune of the song. Amid the tranquil silence her voice was the only sound. I looked at her through the mirror she was facing. She looked beautiful. I took the camera and clicked a picture. The shutter disturbed the serenity. Still singing, she turned to me. I was lying on the bed. She turned to me and smiled. In a very low voice she said, “Will you walk with me on the empty roads of Kolkata during midnight? With no one around. Only the neon-lit bars open. Just a taxi returning to the garage. Caravan trucks carrying newspapers. And amidst all that just you and me. No conversation. Nothing. Just you holding me and me walking alongside you. Will you?”
