There was something special about those college days between 2012 and 2015 — a kind of richness that had nothing to do with money.
We lived on pocket money that had to last the week. Bus fares were calculated, snacks were negotiated, and sometimes even a ₹10 difference felt like a big decision. Yet somehow, those were the days we felt the most alive.
Crowded buses, sweaty afternoons, heavy bags digging into our shoulders — but none of it mattered. Because we were together. Hanging onto the footboard, laughing louder than the traffic, saving seats for each other like it was a mission.
And then there were those “big plans.”
Going out after college wasn’t routine — it was an event. A shared auto ride, a walk through busy streets, and finally sitting down at a new spot every time, sometimes, at a favorite one. Maybe just one glass of ice cream between three of us. Passing the spoon around like it was nothing. Fighting for the last bite. Even the one who liked ice creams the least, used to fight for it! Laughing over the smallest things like they were the biggest moments of our lives.
We didn’t have much, but we shared everything — money, food, secrets, heartbreaks, dreams, and even our hatred for the same people.
Those were the days we were quietly growing up. Stepping out of school rules into a world that felt both uncertain and exciting. Learning who we were, what we wanted, and who we wanted to keep beside us.
Today, life looks different.
We’re scattered across cities, building careers, chasing bigger goals, experiencing better things. The comfort has increased, the choices have expanded — but somewhere deep inside, it’s those simple moments that still feel the most complete.
Because those days weren’t just about college.
They were about roots.
About friendships that didn’t need filters.
About values we didn’t realise we were carrying forward.
And maybe that’s why…
No matter how far life takes us, a part of us will always be sitting around that small table, sharing one glass of ice cream, laughing like we had the whole world in our hands.
