At the north end of the King's Garden you'll find this statue of Hans Christian Andersen sitting with a book as if he's reading a story.

A quiet summer evening by the lake. It was one of those evenings you wish would last a little longer.

Last autumn, I bought the cheapest 35mm camera and film I could find: an Olympus OM-101 and a roll of Kodak Gold 200.It was the first roll of film that i ever shot in my life, and I took only two or three photos on each walk, so it took months to finish all 36 exposures.
A lot of the results were shaky, underexposed or technically bad. But even those photos gave me a feeling I had never really got from digital images. Maybe because every frame carried the memory of stopping, metering, focusing and deciding it was worth taking. The imperfections somehow made them feel more personal, not less valuable.
Film forces you to slow down. There are no endless bursts, no checking the screen and no immediate second chances. You expose and frame each scene manually, then move on without knowing exactly what you captured.
When I finally finished the roll, had it developed and saw the photographs, it felt like opening Christmas presents. Some were failures, some surprised me, and a few became photographs I genuinely love. That was when I understood why film photography is finding its way back. It is slower, less predictable and often imperfect, but somehow that is exactly what makes it so fulfilling.

Fred Herzog was a German-born Canadian photographer and one of the early pioneers of colour street photography. Beginning in the 1950s, he walked the streets of Vancouver with Kodachrome film, documenting shop windows, signs, workers, cars and ordinary people at a time when serious photography was still dominated by black and white.

“I wanted to show the world the way it is.”
— Fred Herzog
