They laugh, they mock, they dance:
because the bombs do not fall on their own homes.
From their side, destruction is distant.
Somewhere, a primary girls’ school is reduced to rubble.
Somewhere, markets and public places are shattered.
Elsewhere, heritage sites and basic necessities are wiped away.
But the cries rise from another land.
The pain is carried by someone else.
The mourning fills someone else’s home.
The calamity descends upon another family.
So why wouldn’t they dance?
Perhaps, if even a fragment of this devastation touched their own lives:
if their children, their fathers, their sisters, their wives,their own people faced such scenes of horror,
then maybe… the music would stop,
and the dance would fade into silence.
ہاں، وہ ہنستے ہیں، مذاق اڑاتے ہیں، ناچتے ہیں—
کیونکہ بم اُن کے اپنے گھروں پر نہیں گرتے۔
ان کی جانب سے تباہی صرف ایک منظر ہے،
کہیں بچیوں کے پرائمری اسکول ملبے میں بدل جاتے ہیں،
کہیں بازار اور عوامی مقامات اجڑ جاتے ہیں،
کہیں تاریخی ورثے اور بنیادی ضروریات مٹا دی جاتی ہیں۔
مگر آہیں کہیں اور سے اٹھتی ہیں،
درد کوئی اور سہتا ہے،
ماتم کسی اور کے گھر میں ہوتا ہے،
اور مصیبت کسی اور خاندان پر ٹوٹ پڑتی ہے۔
تو پھر وہ ناچیں نہیں تو کیا کریں؟
شاید… اگر اس قیامت کا ایک ذرہ بھی
ان کی اپنی زندگیوں کو چھو لیتا—
اگر ان کے اپنے بچے، باپ، بہنیں، بیویاں،
اور ان کے اپنے شہر کے لوگ
ایسے مناظر سے گزرتے—
تو شاید یہ رقص تھم جاتا،
