Koklass Pheasant is a large and timid partridge-like pheasant of high-to-mid-altitude forests. Males have a silver-plumed body, maroon breast stripe, white neck patch, and dark greenish-black head topped with a long crest that, when erect, gives it the profile of a startled rabbit. Females are streaky brown with a faded version of the male’s white patch and breast stripe.

Blue-thorated Barbet is a common inhabitant of lowland and foothill tropical forests, where it sings brightly but often unseen from the canopy, listen for its repeated 3- or 4-syllabled ‘took-o-rrook!’ These species are bright green with a blue throat, a red-and-yellow crown, and a heavy, pale-based bill.

FULL BRIGHTNESS VIEW RECOMMENDED

These species are widespread and fairly common over much of Asia. Breeding males are spectacular and unmistakable, bright yellow head and body contrasts with black collar and gray or black back. Females and non breeding males are less conspicuous, dull yellow with dark cheek patch isolated in yellow face and a gray crown and back.

Alpine Accentor is a stocky, stout, and unobtrusive bird of alpine regions above the treeline. They are often seen shuffling around boulders in small groups. They have distinctive dark wing panel bordered by pale spots forming two wingbars, particularly obvious in flight. Barred throat can be difficult to see but chestnut flanks with white streaks distinctive.

Bird ID - Alpine Thrush

Alpine Thrush is a chocolate-brown thrush with finely scaled white underparts. Alpine Thrush breeds in open rocky alpine areas with scattered shrubbery between 3000 and 4500 meters of elevation, though it descends lower into the foothills during winter. Their song is simple but not altogether unmusical, consisting of fluid warbling notes and squeaky grating ones.

Bird ID - Wall Creeper

Wall Creeper is unmistakable, but difficult to spot on rock faces. These species are spectacular in flight, with broad black, red, and white-spotted wings resembling a giant butterfly. They are usually found on rock faces in high mountainous regions, but also breeds in steep gorges lower down and can even be found on tall buildings in winter. Breeding male has a black throat; winter males and all females have white throats.
