Loved resuming our bird walks with an early morning one at the Hoskote Lake with and her Deepa Mohan Walks group comprising of young & old alike ! It was a rewarding walk not just in terms of the variety of birds spotted (my first Eurasian hippie, yay!) but the insights around various shrubs, insects and of course bird calls and their behaviour!

The highlight of the walk for me was this balloon vine that was a revelation! One simple question to Deepa led to some wonderful sharing around this interesting plant - its scientific name is Cardiospermum halicacabum - it has black seeds with a white heart embellished on each 🤍.. i crushed one balloon to find three perfectly joined seeds making a beautiful 3-leaves-clover pattern! ☘️

Two purple sunbirds(female) feeding on vibrant blue morning glory - was a glorious morning at Saul Kere watching them suck nectar straight from the base of the flowers/buds!
