Some stories stay with you forever, and this is one of them.

My love for leopards grew stronger with every visit to Bandipur, but this little cub made that bond even more special. I was incredibly fortunate to witness one of the youngest leopard cubs I have ever seen. From those tiny, curious eyes peeking through the wilderness to watching him grow into a confident sub-adult, every sighting felt like a priceless chapter.

His mother, my all-time favorite female leopard, displayed extraordinary intelligence and patience. Despite raising him alongside an older sibling from a previous litter, she defied every challenge, teaching him the skills to hunt, survive, and eventually embrace the solitary life every leopard must one day face.

The final image says it all, a young leopard, standing on his own, ready to leave his mother’s shadow and write his own story in the wild.

Bandipur never ceases to remind me that the greatest wildlife photographs are not just about a single frame, but about the privilege of witnessing an entire journey.

In the end, every goodbye in nature is simply the beginning of another untold story.

Five forests. Five tigers. One unforgettable journey.

This International Tiger Day, I’m celebrating the magnificent tiger through five of my favourite imageseach photographed in a different forest across Karnataka. From the iconic landscapes of Bandipur Tiger Reserve to the wild beauty of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, and across four of Karnataka’s incredible tiger reserves, every photograph is a reminder that no two forests, and no two tigers, are ever the same.

Every encounter has been a lesson in patience, respect, and humility. These magnificent cats have not only shaped my journey as a wildlife photographer but have also deepened my understanding of nature, conservation, and the delicate balance that keeps our forests alive.

A tiger is far more than a beautiful animal. it is an umbrella species. Protecting a tiger means protecting entire ecosystems, countless other species, rivers, forests, and ultimately, our own future. Every frame I create is a celebration of the wild and a gentle reminder of our shared responsibility to preserve it.

These five images are among my personal favourites, each carrying a memory, a story, and an emotion that words can never fully capture. I hope you enjoy them as much as I cherished the moments behind the camera.

Wishing everyone a meaningful International Tiger Day. May we continue to admire tigers not just through photographs, but by ensuring they always have forests to roam free.

The greatest gift a photographer can receive isn’t a perfect photograph. it’s knowing that the roar inspiring that photograph will continue to echo through our forests for generations to come.

Every jungle has its kings and queens, but the true charm of the wild often belongs to its youngest residents.

Each youngster carries a personality of its own. Some hide behind their mothers with shy eyes, some step forward with endless curiosity, some turn every fallen branch into a playground with their mischievous antics, while a few already display the confidence and boldness of the rulers they are destined to become.

Their expressions tell stories long before they find their strength wide-eyed wonder, innocent mischief, playful confidence, and fearless determination. Watching these young souls grow is one of wildlife’s greatest privileges, reminding us that every legend of the jungle begins as a curious little explorer.

These are the characters I love photographing the most, because in their eyes lies the future of the wild.

One kingdom. Two kings. A story written by the wild.

For years, the Bolgudda Male ruled these forests. A quiet monarch, elusive and shy, he carried the weight of experience and held his ground with calm authority.

But in 2023, the silence was broken.

From the shadows emerged the Karadi Male, a young, fearless challenger with power in every stride and confidence in every stare. The battle for the throne was inevitable.

When the dust settled, the kingdom had a new ruler.

Today, the Karadi Male stands as Bandipur’s undisputed king, bold, dominant, and ever watchful. A fierce protector of his territory, a devoted father, and a tiger that continues to define an era.

In the wild, every throne is temporary. Every king is tested. And only the strongest write history.

There is something timeless about the leopards of Kabini.

Perhaps it’s the backwaters, perhaps it’s the ancient trees that stand like silent guardians. Every leopard that chooses one of these magnificent perches instantly becomes a work of art. The landscape doesn’t just frame the cat it completes the story.

Canter safaris have gifted me some of my most unforgettable leopard moments, bringing me close to these breathtaking tree-top encounters. Every time I revisit an image like this, I’m reminded why Kabini continues to hold such a special place in my heart.

A quiet evening, a perfect perch, and a leopard that made time stand still.

In 2023, a storm arrived in Bandipur—not from the skies, but from the forest itself.

A powerful, curious male walked into the tourism zone, challenged the resident king, and claimed the throne. Since that unforgettable day, no rival has managed to dethrone him. His sheer strength, confidence, and presence have made him the undisputed ruler of this landscape.

Meet the Karadi Male a beast in every sense. A fearless protector, a dominant force, and a devoted father. He is steadily carving his place among the legendary tigers of Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

Captured during our recently concluded Katrivia Expeditions guided wildlife photography tour, these moments are a reminder that every safari holds the possibility of witnessing history.
