"Om Namo Venkatesaya" is the sacred mantra of Lord Venkateswara (also known as Balaji, Srinivasa, or Perumal), the presiding deity of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati.

The Meaning of Bhaktavatsalam
Bhaktavatsalam is a significant epithet for Lord Venkateswara, highlighting his compassionate nature toward his followers.

Literal Meaning: "The one who loves/cherishes his devotees" (derived from Bhakta meaning devotee and Vatsala meaning affectionate/protective).
Divine Role: As an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this title signifies his readiness to protect his followers, grant boons (Varada Hasta), and remove sins, earning him the title "Kali Yuga Varada" (the boon-giver of the current age).
Temple Connection: While commonly used for Venkateswara, there is also a specific Bhaktavatsalam Perumal Temple in Tirunindravur, Tamil Nadu, where the Lord is worshipped with this specific name alongside his consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi.

The Mantra: Om Namo Venkatesaya
The chant is a humble prayer expressing reverence and seeking divine grace.

Om: The sacred universal sound representing the supreme spirit.
Namo: Translates to "I bow" or "I salute".
Venkatesaya: Refers to the Lord of the Venkata hills, who is believed to destroy the sins of those who seek him.

Chanting this mantra is a core practice for millions of devotees worldwide to connect with the Lord's protective and affectionate "Bhaktavatsalam" energy.

Sridevi (Goddess Lakshmi) and Bhaktavatsalam (Lord Vishnu/Venkateswara) is central to the traditions of the Tirumala Tirupati temple, focusing on the Lord’s role as the "cherisher of devotees" and his eternal bond with the Goddess of prosperity.
Key Aspects of the Divine Story:

Divine Union: Bhaktavatsalam is an epithet for Lord Vishnu/Venkateswara, representing his love for his devotees, while Sridevi is his primary consort, embodying spiritual prosperity.

Significance in Tirumala: In Tirumala, Lord Venkateswara is often flanked by his two consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi (Earth goddess), representing the material and spiritual worlds.
The Legend of Separation and

Reunion: According to legend, Goddess Lakshmi (Sridevi) left Vaikuntha (the celestial abode) after a dispute with sage Bhrigu and settled in Kolhapur, later taking form as Padmavathi (or Alamelu Manga) in Padmavathi Kshetram.

The Reunion Story: Lord Vishnu came to earth looking for her, and after 12 years of penance at Tirumala, he encountered the goddess Padmavati on a red lotus flower at Alamelu Mangapuram, where they fell in love and united.

"Srinivasa" Name: Because Lakshmi (Sri) settled in his heart/residence, the Lord is known as Srinivasa.

Worship and Symbolism:
Alamelu Manga: Goddess Padmavati, as a form of Sridevi, is considered to reside at Alamelu Mangapuram (near Tirupati), and it is customary for devotees to visit the Padmavati temple before visiting the main Tirumala Venkateswara temple.
Vaishnava Tradition: The union represents that through devotion to the Lord (Bhaktavatsalam), one gains the grace of Sridevi.

Bhaktavatsalam and Sridevi is a profound divine marital relationship within Hinduism, where they are viewed as a central couple representing the supreme Lord and his consort in the Vaishnav tradition.

Bhaktavatsalam is an epithet (a descriptive title) for Lord Vishnu, meaning "the one who loves his devotees" or "cherisher of devotees".
Sridevi is a manifestation of the supreme goddess Lakshmi, who is the divine wife of Vishnu.

Here are the key details regarding their connection:
Divine Relationship: Sridevi represents the spiritual realm or spiritual energy, while Bhudevi (often depicted with them) represents the material world. Sridevi is typically positioned on the right side of the Lord.
Temple Tradition: They are worshipped together, particularly in South India. A prominent temple dedicated to this pair is the Bhaktavatsalam Perumal temple in Tirunindravur, Tamil Nadu.

The Legend of Tirunindravur: In this particular temple, Lakshmi (Sridevi) is believed to have settled first, and Vishnu (Bhaktavatsalam) followed her there, leading to the belief that the Lord stays at his in-law's place.

Consort Role: Sridevi and Bhudevi are considered Nitya Sangini (eternal companions) of Lord Narayana (Vishnu).

Essentially, Bhaktavatsalam is the protective form of Vishnu, and Sridevi is the prosperity and spiritual grace that accompanies him, serving as a mediator between the devotee and the Lord.
