Honoured to present works inspired by the spirit of Prokash Karmakar — the legendary Indian painter from Kolkata whose vibrant landscapes, bold lines, and fearless expression reshaped modern-art narratives in India. His art — rooted in lived experience, nature’s chaos and calm, and a life of creative resilience — continues to inspire generations.

Prokash Karmakar is an artist whose work reflects a deep sensitivity toward nature, time, and human presence within the landscape. Through a refined visual language, he explores themes of solitude, transition, and quiet resilience. His compositions often balance vast natural spaces with subtle human traces—footprints, resting figures, or solitary trees—inviting viewers to pause and reflect.

Karmakar’s artistic approach is marked by a strong sense of atmosphere. Mist-laden mornings, shifting light, and expansive terrains recur in his work, creating images that feel contemplative and timeless. Rather than dramatic narratives, his art speaks softly, allowing silence, memory, and stillness to become central elements of expression.

Rooted in observation and emotional depth, Prokash Karmakar’s practice celebrates the poetry of the natural world and the fragile yet enduring connection between land and life. His works resonate as visual meditations—quiet, thoughtful, and deeply human.

A heartfelt tribute to the legendary Rabi Paul—renowned artist, writer, and eminent disciple of Ramkinkar Baij—Rabi Art Gallery carries forward a powerful artistic lineage rooted in Shantiniketan. Closely associated with stalwarts like Nandalal Bose, Somnath H**e, K.G.
