If this looks familiar to Calcuttans ..it is indeed the gigantic artwork at one of the Saltlake Durga Puja Pandals in Kolkata last year. The one that took us almost two hours to manoeuvre. The light and sound show was beautifully orchestrated to depict epic tales of Lord Shiva.

If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then these windows are the eyes of an old soulful colonial home that is aptly named “Unique Lodge” in the quaint town/city of Serampore near Kolkata. A step in and you transition to a bygone era reminiscent of a time when the ‘colonizers’ and the ‘bhadrolok’ mingled with gay abandon.
Miniatures, paintings, photographs, rugs, colonial furniture , old clocks, antiques and books ( that have stood the test of time) are strewn around for you to experience without the bars of a modern day museum.
