Let's talk about Cyberbullying.
"Cyber-bullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner." - Wikipedia
'Cyber Bullying', 'online harassment', 'trolling', 'cyber violence', there are many terms we use to depict this modern form of bullying. We are all aware of the seriousness of this problem because of its potential to invoke shame within victims, and issues such as depression and low self-esteem. Cyberbullying can happen any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
A quick online search can help you understand many forms of Cyberbullying. Be it Flaming (messages with angry and vulgar language), Harassment (nasty, mean, cruel and insulting messages), Denigration (online gossips with the intention of damaging someone’s reputation or friendships), Impersonation (Pretending to be someone else), Outing (Sharing someone's personal secrets, embarrassing images or information online), Trickery (Talking someone into sharing information/images and sharing it online), Exclusion (Intentionally and cruelly excluding someone from an online group), Cyberstalking (Repeated, intense harassment and denigration that includes threats and creating fear).
The anonymity that online world permits can have devastating effects on victims and make them feel helpless. Let's be kind to each other and fight the menace of cyberbullying, together!
