Merry Christmas everyone. 🌲
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.⛄
Well.. it's this time of the year once again. Time to Merry, to cherish and to be thankful for all the blessings we received since the beginning of the year.☀️
To celebrate it in our way, tried baking chocolate cake for the first time - a perfect way to blend in the essence of Christmas.❄️
P.s. Santa is yet to arrive 🎅

Day3: Keylong to Leh. Pitstop at Sarchu.
Started from Keylong at 08:00am after a refreshing hot cup of tea and bread-butter. By 04:00pm, when exhaustion reached to its peak, at the end of 'ProjectVijay' & the start of 'Project Himank', pitstop at sarchu came as a consolation. Stepped out of our vehicle, to breathe in the uncontaminated Himalayan air which is a blessing for city dewllers like us. The thin cold unforgiving gush of wind started a virtual rupture of our uncovered skin, but that momentary pain had a tinge of joy in its own - a new experience.
Far away from civilization, far away from the huste bustle, far away from everything, ew found solace. But the tough terrains were about to show their sturdiness within an hour post that as 251 Kms was yet to be covered for the day.
Contd..

Pangong Tso.
The beautiful multi shades of blue color offered by Pangong Tso along with a picturesque landscape around gives an extremely romantic feel .
One of Ladakh's most important tourist attraction, this azure stretch of endorheic lake is situated at a dizzying height of 4350 meter and looks as if it is piece of heaven that fell on earth.
Surrounded by barren mountains, this lake is probably one of the most beautiful lakes in Ladakh. Pangong is a transboundary lake that is expanded between India and China for almost 134 kms. About one-third of the lake is in India and has an average width is around 5 kms making it one of the largest brackish water lake in the world.
The vistas of the lake are so stunning that several Bollywood movies have been shot here. One thing that attracts tourists here is the way the brackish water reacts when the sunlight falls resulting in different shades of water, as this shade is visible during sunset.

It was our much needed break. A break which we sought to take advantage to the fullest. Result !! A short trip to Maharashtra. To be specific - Pune.
On our way to panchgani, lied the marvellous Dhom Dam. At a distance of 21 km from Panchgani & 97 km from Pune, Dhom Dam is an earthfill and gravity dam built on Krishna River near Wai in Satara district of Maharashtra.
The construction of the dam was started in 1976 and completed in 1982. It is one of the largest civil engineering projects in India at that time and also the first dam to be built on Krishna River in Maharashtra. The main purpose of the construction of the Dhom dam was to ensure adequate water supply for industries in the region, for agricultural activities and to supply potable drinking water to the populace of Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar and Wai regions which lie in the vicinity of the dam
The Dhom dam stands 50 feet tall from the lowest foundation and runs a length of 2,478 m. The Dhom Lake is formed by the backwaters of the dam and is about 20 km in length. The Dhom dam attracts tourists in large numbers because of the beautiful natural surroundings and boating activities.
The Dhom village was earlier known as Virat Nagar. The place is famous for its scenic beauty and the temples on the river banks. Narasimha Temple on the Krishna Ghat is a much-visited place and is a preferred locale by Bollywood for film shooting.

Somewhere between Leh & Nubra.
The silence of nature, the gush winds and the lack of green for miles and miles amused us to the extreme. It was our day to travel to Nubra and fortunately or unfortunately our vehicle broke down in the middle of nowhere. And the same provided us with ample opportunity to explore the serenity of the valley in an hour long walk, to be picked up by our vehicle later. It was indeed a blessing in disguise as we brisked through the valley to discover what life should have been instead of what it is currently for everyone..
Our body, by that time, did adapt to the thin air and less oxygen of high altitudes. So the hour long walk wasn't something which could have discouraged us.

Somewhere in
the oasis of the snow-capped mountains where desert, river and greenery meets ! 🗻🏝
And the double-humped camels in the sand dunes added the beauty to the place🐫
This was my personal favourite place in the whole trip of Leh-Ladakh. More than the place the native people of Nubra Valley touched my soul - so pure !
I wish I was wearing a Red Saree just like the Bollywood movies ! I wish ....!💃🏻
