The Mickey Boland Lock Down Bootleg Tapes❤️.
Another clip from my visit to the late Mickey Boland and his loyal dog in 2020.
In fairness, I think he gives Eleanor a run for her money with this one❤️.

And, if you are author Garrett Carr

Some great days last week celebrating National Heritage Week in County Leitrim. One of the many great events was held up in Kiltyclogher when the Roskilmanor Wrenboys came out in the middle of August. Peggy McGovern and Teresa McKeaney were first up to rattle the wooden floor on a fine evening at the homeplace of Seán Mac Diarmada, but it wasn't long before the music had every last spectator up giving it wellie.

Why not Walk the Walk
Last Saturday, led by Sabina Higgins, a group of walkers set off on the long 165Km Famine Way walk from Strokestown to Dublin which is being organised by the Boyle Palestine Solidarity group.
They follow in the footsteps of the 1490 people who, during what is referred to the Great Famine, were forced from their homes in Strokestown, County Roscommon, forced to make the harrowing journey all the way to Dublin Port where they were put on ships to Canada.
Our “famine” victims are remembered every step of the journey, that’s all we can do for them.
But, today, the people of Gaza are being starved to death by an organised famine imposed on them by the Israeli government and we must do what little we can to put a stop to this in the name of our own forced famine victims whose footsteps we follow.

Why not come out and support the walkers for Palestine. Walk a mile, walk ten miles, give a wave, do what you can. Many already have, in every county they pass through.

Today, Tuesday, they left Ballynacarrigy Harbour for Mullingar. Do you live close by?
Tomorrow at 10am they leave Mullingar Harbour walking to Hill of Down, always along the Royal Canal, maybe you could join them there or even wave from a bridge.
Thursday our brave walkers leave Hill of Down for Enfield.
Leaving Enfield at 10am on Friday they set off for Maynooth. If the College was open I know they would have great support. Maybe you are close to Maynooth.
The final leg of the long journey(10am Sat 9th) is from Maynooth Harbour to the heart breaking Famine memorial on Customs Quay, Dublin.
Don’t let them walk alone.
Visit them
Walk with them
Cheer them on
Do what you can
We can all do something.
Stop The Starvation
Let the Aid in
Stop this Genocide.

Always a Helping hand at the Hawk's Well Theatre, Sligo
I had the great privilege of photographing members of Shine at the Hawk’s Well Theatre last Friday as they rehearsed for “Show up and Show Off”, an evening allowing community groups display their talents on stage.
Shine is a programme which The Hawk’s Well started in 2023. It involves weekly drama workshops for young people with intellectual disabilities. This project works to bring greater equality of accessibility by supporting people with intellectual disabilities to access theatre as participants.
To be honest, it’s amazing to witness the work being done at The Hawk’s Well and the care and dedication given by the two facilitators, Izzy Claffey and Sinéad O’Donnell Carey is a Master Class.
The excitement during rehearsals was palpable and (as you can see) Izzy or Sinead were only ever a few steps away to lend a hand if needed.

Fair play to John Flynn and the Leitrim farmers of the Leitrim Fort Group marking, recording and celebrating the Ring Forts on their land. The keepers of our heritage. Delighted to see the great Padraig Gilbride gracing page 1 of this week’s Farming Independent

I took off to on a mission. I had never heard the call of the Corncrake in my long life and that needed fixing. Within 10 mins of landing and while walking uphill to the campsite his unmistakable call came from within 10meters. Stuck to the ground I listened and listened. Later that evening after dinner in great company the same call guided me back up the hill as he competed with a rival only yards for my tent. . On my back I listened enthralled all night. A Bealtaine gift to treasure
