I came across many ways that people try to define what it means to be a woman. Some see femininty as a physical trait, an ideal for them has big hips, narrow waist and 90-60-90 ratio with a breathtaking chest as a main feature. Some assosiate womenhood with confidence, strength of character and resistance, often describing bossladies as hardworking queens. Most of inspirational women I see in media embody some of the characteristics from both outlooks, but I still think it does not exhaust the essence of womenhood.
I look at Greta Thunberd, Jane Goodall, Brene Brown, Anna Wintour, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams - these are just a few of my own female role-models. A common ingredient is the story they tell is the contrast of where they started and where they are now, breaking the pattern with a trait they forged into their superpower, unique to each one of them.
To define womanhood is to realize the opposites that are a part of our stories. Forces that pull both ways and need to be kept in balance. Being a woman means being soft and strong, equally. Being compassionate, but having boundaries. Being a leader, but always honoring your community. Being defined by fashion, trends, style, but unique and creative in a way we express ourselves.
What is womanhood?
