During your family photo session, I will take all sorts of photos. Portraits, yes, images that include everyone, but also what I like to call “details”. Those shots are essential to documentary photography, and even though they might seem unimportant, they are some of the most meaningful images in your gallery.

Because you will always have tons of phone photos of what you looked like throughout the years, but what makes the detail shots priceless is that they are created by a stranger. Someone who doesn’t do these little things you and your kids do every day, and therefore notices them more.

The “details” are the photos that make sure you don’t end up with the same pictures everyone else is getting. In your family album, details tie the story together.
In 20 years, they might just be your favorite photos ever ❤️

Inspiration doesn’t usually come from big exhibitions or photography books for me.
It comes from very ordinary moments, like making a hot chocolate, walking through Dublin, listening to a street performance, noticing light on a brick wall, or a simple walk in my neighborhood.
These are the kinds of things I pay attention to, because they feel real and alive, and hold so much poetry.

Maybe it’s just about seeing things the way a child would… before they become sweet memories.

We met at the Iveagh Gardens and started slowly, with a game of hide and seek between the bushes and the little hedge maze.
We paused for a small snack before continuing our walk towards the canal.
For the children, it was just another happy day, surrounded by their parents’ love, going for a walk like they always do.
For the parents, it was a moment to slow down, where no one had to think about the photos. For Mama, it was a lovely keepsake of her baby bump.
For all of them, these are very precious memories of those carefree days.
