Sad news about Denis a regular at People’s Photography over the years.

It is with great sadness that we are sharing the news of Denis Whelehan's passing. Denis was a multi award winning member of Dundalk Photographic Society and was a valued member of the IPF Council for many years. He established the IPF archive in Dundalk County Library and was presented with the Brendan Walkin Memorial Medal by Council in 2013 for Outstanding Service to Photography.

Denis was an absolute gentleman who quietly and diligently served the IPF since its foundation. He championed the work of the Photographic Society of America for whom he was their Irish representative for many years, having in recent years been honoured with their highest meritorious award. Most of all, he was a good friend to many, a kind husband, father and grandfather. His contribution to photography was exceptional and he will be hugely missed by those who were fortunate enough to be able to call him their friend,

Peoples Photography 2024 will take place on the railings of St. Stephen's Green on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August 2024.
