I was fortunate to attend two collage workshops facilitated by American artist Katherine Boucher at during this month of April. These two sessions went beyond paper cutout techniques to provide a better understanding of how composition, color and especially negative space can be purposefully worked to add respectable weight to what you are trying to say. Not only did they provide insights for the regular collagist, but would have certainly benefited the seasoned or hobbyist painter, photographer, or illustrator. In this spirit of interconnectedness, participants were given exercises, which I perceived more as paths different than the ones I already knew to better transform the chaos of the world and the mind into beautiful works of paper. Thanks!

If you happen to be in Cork, I hope you can stop by at the LHQ gallery for the now annual Open Call Winter Exhibition which will run throughout November and December 2025.

‘Oh, the thinks you can think’ celebrates the thinking behind artworks. All art starts with an idea, whether that’s a rural landscape, a poem, a milking stool, or an abstract piece. Borrowing its title from the 1975 Dr Seuss book of the same name, the exhibition describes the many 'thinks' one can think and the endless possibilities and dreams that imagination can create, real or not real.

Among 74 works from 68 Cork based artists, there will be a mixed media artwork I've created titled "A Dream Goes On Forever". Many thanks to the Cork County Council LHQ gallery for this opportunity.

I couldn't be happier to have some of my collages on display at , where I've also met some other truly genuine artists and friendly people. I'm sure this community driven artistic space will host more events in the future, but in the meantime, go have a look at what is still on display. Cheers.
