Ballymun Communications The organisation was founded in 1990 in response to the lack of communication services in the Ballymun area.

Ballymun Communications is a not for profit limited company coordinated and managed by a group of people with experience and expertise in community development and media production. There was little record of events that occurred in the community and all that was available were the “horror stories” in the national tv or press. The organisation has successfully managed sixteen Community Employment

Programmes and has developed a library of activities that occurred in the community during this time in both video and photography. Seven people from our project are now employed in the national media. We have archive material of various events including launches of programmes for the Ballymun Partnership, Local Drugs Task Force, The Job Centre, Ballymun Regeneration Ltd as well as the festivals in the area. We also work with the community forums and youth groups giving them the skills in being able to make their own productions.

☕️🎨Following the amazing coffee morning for creatives we held in September, we will be hosting a second coffee morning on the 27th of November!

☕️🎨 Pop into the Axis cafe from 11am to 1pm on the 27th and meet other Ballymun-based creatives for the chats and a cuppa.

☕️ 🎨 We will also be sharing information on and open for questions about our bursary for Ballymun artists.

☕️🎨 We hope to see a range of creatives there, our last meeting hosted writers, visual artists, theatre makers, sculptors and body painters to name a few!

🎨🌿 Introducing the Ballymun Is Brilliant Artists!

🎨🌿 They will use art and creativity to engage the Ballymun community, to promote conversations around climate change, sustainability and justice. 

🌱 ARTIST: Adam Mohamed

🌱 SHORT PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

💛 Adam’s project involves creating a short story, poetry, and photo book, developed solely by the Ballymun community, from all ages and backgrounds. 

💛The book will revolve around the 4 seasons and each chapter will contain stories and photos which will showcase the unique nature of the Ballymun Community, both in climate and in people. 

💛The main goal of this is to celebrate the community and give an uplifting window into Ballymun, capturing our essence.

💛He will collaborate with local youths, local artists, and local community groups through workshops and discussions.
