A colorful discovery in the shadows. 🦆🪨

I captured this stunning wood duck resting at the entrance of a small rocky cave during my visit to Zoo de Lagos. The deep, dark background of the rock formation perfectly frames the bird, making those incredibly vibrant iridescent feathers and that striking red eye pop beautifully. Finding natural frames like this is a fantastic way to draw the viewers attention directly to the unique details of the subject in wildlife photography.

Putting some new gear through its paces down in St. Catherine's Park! 📸🌿

I took the Sony a6700 out paired with the Tamron 50-300mm Di III to see how it handles macro style closeups and wildlife in the field. For a telephoto zoom, the minimum focus distance on this lens is incredibly impressive, letting you transition from distant subjects straight into capturing the tiny details of local wildlife.
Here is a quick look at the test shots from around the park.
Overall, it is a highly versatile setup for tracking down micro moments in nature without needing to constantly swap out lenses.
