Mat and I headed off on an impromptu camping trip with the gang to Bluff Creek camp grounds near Kenilworth QLD.
The trip up into the Sunshine Coast hinterland was so scenic, and luckily, we missed all the traffic.
On arrival, we used the gate code that was sent to us via text the day prior to gain access. There was a lady at the office who greeted us, placing a sticker on our windscreen and handing us a map (which was completely useless and a waste of a good tree).
We surveyed the area for a spot to camping and, after some deliberation, settled on a little corner at the bottom of the grounds. The area was fairly full, and spots were limited as the grounds were mostly on an incline. The port a loos were a hike but easier to walk to than the main amenities block, which was up a very steep hill.
The showers are $1 for 3 minutes, which frankly pi**es me off when staying there is $20 per adult per night minimum 2 nights stay. Firewood was $22 a bag, i almost choked on my beer. They are quite strict on noise as well.
The port a loo ran out of water, and some poor chap took a p**p and must not have been able to flush it, gross, so we went to the main building just to have p**s all over the seat and floor.
There's a small dam that's quite deep and packed with kids. The river is a quick drive or short walk and no where to park once there, it's a steep track down to the water too, and it's shallow.
I don't think we will be back...
All up, we give Bluff Creek 2/5 stars.
