This is a trip my wife and I will never forget.

On our last day, we headed out to Joshua Tree National Park - my first time ever stepping into a real desert. There’s something surreal about it… the silence, the endless horizons, the raw beauty of the landscape. It almost feels like another planet.

After a major earthquake in 1989, hundreds of sea lions moved into Pier 39 and never left.
They stayed because the docks are perfect for resting, there’s plenty of food in the bay, and the area is calm and safe, basically a sea lion paradise.

The system has been running since 1873, making it both public transport and a moving piece of history.
