Most OFW friends I know will not invest in Longterm Healthcare or Life Insurance because they choose to invest in Gold and jewelries they bought abroad. Yes indeed Gold is a good investment as it will increase in value in the future.

However, if you don't have money when someone in the family get sick or when the bread winner passes away this is what will happen to the jewelries you think were an investment. When you pawn it, they will only give you less than half of the original value when you bought it. And when you can't pay it you lose it. You loss more than half of the money you originally invested in jewelries.

If we don't educate ourselves about personal finance it will cost us our dream, and sacrifices working away from our family for a long period of time. Invest in your knowledge, a few Thousand of Peso will not hurt you so much for a lifetime coaching.
