A great 60th birthday present for owner Shawn Kang as Alpha+ (HKG) sails into the lead of the TP52 Worlds at Porto Cervo. Happy Birthday, Shawn!

The Hong Kong flagged crew of Alpha Plus gave owner Shawn Kang a great birthday present today when they bolted together a third and first, the top scoring boat for the second successive day, to lead the Rolex TP52 Worlds in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

TOMES CUP 2026. THE DECIDER, 25 April

Another pursuit race from RHKYC, and part of the Club's annual Top Dog Series, in which boats of all classes from big flat-out racers to humble dinghies compete directly against each other. This means staggered starts, with the slowest boat first and the slippery-quicks last. Elapsed time target for a race is usually to have the first boat across the finish line after 2 1/2 hours, which requires some genuine black magic from the Race Officer!

There was an inauspicious start to the day, with some boats paddling to make the start line on time, but the breeze arrived along with the first warning signal, and from there on it was 5-star racing all afternoon. Clear air, sunshine, and 10 knots of breeze.

Tom Ho's diminutive Pandora, Windfall, was in the first start, and first round the first mark. This is not unusual, but we have seen him caught by the coat tails on the last leg of a race so many times. This time it was pleasure to see him and his crew, so often the bridesmaids, cling on to a slim lead at the finish. In doing so they won the Tomes Cup AND the Top Dog Series 2025-26. Congratulations all round!

Subic showdown for BPI Signature Yacht Race Series: sunshine and breeze to kick off the last event of the 2026 BP Series in Subic

It's the end of the line for the BPI Signature Yacht Race Series 2026. After the Corregidor Cup, the Busuanga Cup, and the Boracay 200, the last event for the series 2025-26 is now under way: the Subic Regatta 2026.

BPI BORACAY 200 2026. For the second year in a row there was just too much breeze, but a good time was had by all nonetheless.

The Boracay event has a well-deserved reputation, consisting of a 230nm passage race from Subic Bay to Boracay off the northern tip of Panay, and then three or four days of inshore, around the islands or windward-leeward races.

Thailand stays on top in the SSL event at SEA Games

SSL Division at SEA Games - now, in Pattaya. 18kts at Jomtien? Unheard of!

The SSL at the SEA Games officially kicked off on 15 December in Pattaya, Thailand. From early morning, the dock was alive with focus and anticipation. Sailors prepared their SSL47s under clear skies, while spectators gathered along the shoreline.

RIP Darren Catterall. We disagreed on almost everything, but did agree that differing opinions were allowed, and always finished with a beer. A friend who will be greatly missed.
