TIPA Chairman Thomas Gerwers attended the Camera Grand Prix 2026 Awards Ceremony in Tokyo, representing the Technical Image Press Association and its long-standing relationship with the Camera Journal Press Club.

The meeting once again highlighted the value of international cooperation in the imaging industry. CJPC and TIPA come from different regions and editorial traditions, yet both organizations share a clear mission: recognizing excellence in cameras, lenses and imaging technology.

This year’s awards also revealed a strong convergence of expert opinion across markets. The Sony Alpha 7 V, Camera of the Year at Camera Grand Prix 2026, was also honored by TIPA as Best Full Frame Expert Camera. The Sony FE 50–150mm F2 GM and the Canon EOS R6 Mark III also received recognition from both award systems.

As Thomas Gerwers underlined in Tokyo, photography has always connected people across cultures and borders. In a rapidly changing industry, independent journalism and expert evaluation remain essential.
