During the breeding season from March to July, the Little Egret grows two long and slender feathers on its pituitary gland after the mating period. It also has fluffy plumage on its back and upper chest, which disappears after mating season. These feathers serve as a signal to other Little Egrets that they are mature and ready to find a mate and reproduce. It's like they're putting on a beautiful wedding dress to attract a partner! 🦢💕👰‍♀️

小白鷺，香港最常見的鷺烏。全身白色，外貌很像大白鷺，但體型較小，嘴全黑，腳黑，但腳趾是黃色。

The little egret's habitat varies widely, and includes the shores of lakes, rivers, canals, ponds, lagoons, marshes and flooded land, the bird preferring open locations to dense cover. On the coast it inhabits mangrove areas, swamps, mudflats, sandy beaches and reefs.

During breeding season, little egret has two narrow elongated nape feathers appear behind the head and yellowish green facial skin flushes bright red.

Little egret, the most common and widespread egret in Hong Kong. White all over. Resembles Great Egret but is smaller. Bill and legs are black and tools are yellow.
