This morning, another photographer reached out needing someone to step in for a family session because she was having car trouble. With the beautiful chaos of parenting a senior and another busy kiddo, I happened to have the evening free for once, so I gladly said yes. Photography fills my soul in ways I can’t fully explain.

A few hours later, life decided to throw me a curveball too — major car trouble of my own. After working through it, dropping my car off for repairs, and rushing to make it to the session, I finally arrived… only to find the family had run into some unexpected issues themselves and needed to be late.

So I sat down by the water and just watched the waves for a while.

As I looked down, I noticed these tiny footprints in the sand, and it made me stop and reflect on how easy it is to get swallowed up by stress, schedules, and the weight of everyday life. But moments like this remind me that the little things — tiny footprints, genuine smiles, family, laughter, and simply being present — are what truly matter.

Life can be messy and stressful, but gratitude has a way of making even the hardest days shine a little brighter.
