150 years ago today, in the village of Sant'Antimo in the Province of Naples, the founder of one of the oldest and most important automotive brands in history was born: Nicola Romeo.
Nicola Romeo founded first a mining machinery company in Milan before taking over A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) in 1915, an automaker then facing a severe financial crisis. During the Great War, Romeo skillfully converted production into war material, am******on, and aircraft engines, ensuring the survival and industrial expansion of the Portello plant.
It was only in 1920, with the resumption of civilian manufacturing, that his surname was paired with the original acronym, creating the official Alfa Romeo brand with the Torpedo 20-30 HP. Under his visionary leadership, the "Biscione" began to dominate international competitions by hiring world-class designers like Vittorio Jano. Despite Nicola’s departure in 1928, his name remained inextricably linked to an identity built on technical excellence and sportiness. Today, his legacy lives on in the myth of a brand that still perfectly blends entrepreneurial audacity and Italian mechanical passion.

The 1966 Ferrari 330 GT (Serial #7877) is best known as the donor vehicle for a bespoke, one-off "Speciale" project, rather than for its original factory configuration.
The "Speciale" Project (s/n 7877)
Donor Car: In 2004, enthusiast Joe Fernandez acquired a 1966 Ferrari 330 GT (Series II, based on the timeline and 330 model) as a donor vehicle for a custom project.
Concept: The goal was to create a tribute to Giovanni Michelotti, rebodying the 330 GT in the style of early 1950s Ferrari racing cars, specifically resembling a 340 America.
Construction: The original chassis and running gear were modified. A new, all-aluminum, hand-formed body was created using traditional Italian coachbuilding techniques.
Unveiling: The completed "Ferrari 330 GT Speciale" was finished in the summer of 2018 and unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week.
Media Appearance: The project was featured in the Motor Trend documentary/TV show Long Road to Monterey, highlighting The Creative Workshop's restoration and transformation of the car.
Legacy
This vehicle, though starting as a 1966 330 GT 2+2, was transformed into a unique, coachbuilt, one-off creation that has been shown at prestigious events like Cavallino and the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance.
