Lena Konstantakou: The Magic Tree

The Magic Tree’ shows an old Phoenician juniper found at the end of a hidden path in Rafina, my neighborhood, east of Athens. I discovered it after returning home from living in London for many years, during a time when I felt lost and disconnected. The tree became a point of stillness in my daily walks, blocking noise, speed, and routine. Its strong yet gentle form stands quietly in the landscape, reminding us that nature can offer grounding, memory, and moments of magic within ordinary places.

I’m excited to share that my photograph ‘The Magic Tree’ has been selected as a finalist in ‘On The Block, 2nd Edition’ by the and will be exhibited at House of Lucie in Los Angeles in June 13th.

Winners and finalists have just been announced, and I feel very grateful to be part of a project that celebrates the unposed, the unfiltered, and the fleeting moments that shape everyday life.

My thanks to the jury .chong and the Lucie Foundation for including my work in this selection and for this opportunity.

I’m honored to share that four works from my series ‘Echoes of a Fading Land’ have been shortlisted for the 167th International Photography Exhibition by the - one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious photography organizations.

Using the cyanotype process, the project explores the essence of heritage, memory, and family bonds, rooted in my father’s village in the Peloponnese and inspired by Greek poetry.
